Ever wonder what “aspect ratio” is all about? If so you’re not alone.In printing, “aspect ratio” refers to the images that sensors form of widths and heights. The aspect ratio is the dimension of the digital image or the image output to print. As its name indicates, it represents a ratio. So, for instance, a group of images may all have the aspect ratio of 16:9. One image is 16 inches wide and 9 inches high. Another image is 16 centimeters wide and 9 centimeters high. A third is 8 yards wide and 4.5 yards high.

In printing, it’s important to know what aspect ratio your image is set in. It will help determine how you print the image and where you’ll place in on the web or in a print setting.
